What is SD64 DFL?
Welcome to Senate District 64! We are the volunteer-run local branch of the DFL. Senate District (SD) 64 is in the heart of Saint Paul, Minnesota, covering much of the western side of Saint Paul. SD64 stands for “Senate District 64” and represents a state senate district, which also covers two state house districts (64A and 64B), so most of our business comes during even years.
The responsibilities and goals of the SD64 DFL include:
Organizing party caucuses and conventions every two years where candidates for state house and senate are endorsed, and delegates are chosen for the state and congressional district conventions.
Coordinating and organizing volunteers to do voter outreach through door knocking and phone banking.
Growing grassroots interest and involvement with the DFL through community activities and outreach events.
If you are new to Minnesota, you may wonder why you hear little about the Democratic Party and a lot about the “DFL”. Here we call ourselves the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.
The Minnesota election cycle runs different kinds of races in different years.
During even years: Statewide and federal elections are held.
During odd years: Cities and towns hold their elections in Minnesota.

Our 2026 Midterm Candidate Support Focus
Our Candidate Support Subcommittee identified races that would be the most effective places to send our volunteers. Financial donations will be made later after PACs and Unions have made their donations so we can fill in gaps.
House District 41B (Jen Fox) In the 2024 race she lost by 410 votes to far right candidate Tom Dippel who is now running for state senate. In 2026 Jen Fox is running against Republican candidate William Beck.
House District 54A (Brad Tabke) (former mayor of Shakopee) In the 2024 race against Republican Aaron Paul, Tabke won by 15 votes in a recount. His 2026 Republican opponent is again Aaron Paul. Tabke had defeated Republican Erik Mortensen in 2022.
Senate District 58 in Northfield and Farmington, (Mark Legvoid) is running against Republican incumbent Bill Lieske. The 2022 election flipped the district to Republican, Lieske defeating Democrat Clarice Grabau by 5%.
