We’re coming up on the final debate this Sunday at 7:00pm. We have a fairly aggressive visibility plan to ensure that both Al and Norm drive through a sea of Franken signs on their ways to the debate and need somewhere near 55 people to meet our goals.

We’ll be getting a good chunk of volunteers by giving them some of our 75 tickets, but we’d like to fill as many of these visibility spots as possible with staff, staff families, and core supporters.

This would mean:

Arriving at the Fitzgerald Theater at 5:30pm.

Standing on a designated street corner

Possibly assisting with a welcome rally for Al

Unless you’re volunteering for a ticket, this won’t guarantee entry into the debate…but it’s something we absolutely need to make the debate successful. Please consider helping.

Help assemble the material we need for GOTV in Packet Land! Read on for details. We’re almost there! Together, we have built the largest, most effective voter-contact operation ever, in Minnesota. Volunteers that feel passionately about changing the direction of our state and nation have been working tirelessly talking to voters about what is at stake in this election and why it is critical to vote for our entire DFL ticket. You’ve all been wonderful in doing your part to ensure victory on November 4. Thank you!

As we head into the final days of this election cycle, we all know that we cannot let up. Lacking solutions and on the side of special interests, the Republicans have predictably resorted to smears and the politics of fear and division. We’ve got momentum on our side but we must continue to carry the positive message of our candidates to our neighbors’ doors through Election Day.

Thousands of volunteers are walking door-to-door throughout Minnesota in these critical last days. In order to prepare walk packets for our Get-Out-The-Vote efforts, we need your help next week in what we are calling “Packet Land.” We’ll be compiling walk packets with the necessary information to use in our final days of GOTV. Join us!

We need your help to get out the vote. Please sign up to volunteer on Saturday Nov 1, Sunday Nov 2, Monday Nov 3, and Election Day Nov 4. Please sign up now at www.gotvforchange.com. Thank you!

If you are interested in many, many more details, please read more of this article.

NOVEMBER 1st – 4th

For the final stage of GOTV, we will use the UAW Local 879 (2191 Ford Parkway, at corner of Cretin) as our canvass launch location.

Our phonebank will be back at the Carpenter’s Union (700 Olive Street, there is a large parking lot, and there are actually 3 entrances with 3 different addresses, you should enter via the 710 entrance for easiest access to the phonebank).

HELP FEED THE VOLUNTEERS

We will also be feeding the volunteers working out of this location so that energy and enthusiasm remain high. If you are able to bake cookies or banana bread or other yummy contributions to this effort, we’d love to have them. Just send a note to info@sd64dfl.org to let us know what you are bringing and when you plan to bring it (this gives us an idea of how much other stuff we have to buy) and then drop it off at UAW Local 879 when it is ready. If you don’t have time to drop by, you can donate money to the cause.

EARLY VOTING

Finally (and I know, this is interminable, if you’re still reading, I appreciate it): PLEASE VOTE TODAY. OR TOMORROW. OR ANY DAY BEFORE NOVEMBER 4TH.

On Election Day, we hope many of you will be on the doors motivating others to get to the polls ALL DAY. If you are volunteering, you might not have time to go to the polls ourselves. So please vote before Tuesday.

All you need to do is go down to the County Elections office (90 W Plato, you cross the Wabasha Bridge and take a right on Plato, the building is on your left). There are signs pointing you to the elections office where you can fill out an absentee ballot request form, get a ballot, and vote.

A message from state DFL chair Brian Melendez…

Good news: The Campaign for Change recently received a fresh batch
of Obama-Biden signs, the biggest order in the state so far in this campaign
cycle. The Obama campaign is giving them out for free.

As we all know, the scarcity of Obama signs has been a persistent
issue ever since Senator Obama captured the nomination. But let me dispel a
misconception: Some people think that Obama signs are hard to find because
the campaign ordered fewer than usual. On the contrary, the supply is
comparable to the supply of Kerry signs that were available in 2004. The
difference is that demand is much higher. Remember the precinct caucuses?
Turnout at the 2008 caucuses was four times as high as in 2004, and more
than seven times as high as in 2006. The demand for Obama signs has also
been disproportionately higher than the demand for Presidential signs in
previous cycles. The signs have disappeared from Obama offices nearly as
fast as they have arrived: for example, in the late summer, a delivery of
over five thousand signs was totally gone in less than 36 hours.

The latest batch of signs is available at Campaign for Change
headquarters, 777 Raymond Avenue, St. Paul. If you are heading over to pick
up some signs, please call 651.644.4850 to make sure that there are still
signs available.
