Data Management, Tuesday 6/10

Our second Data Management meeting will be on Tuesday, June 3rd 10th at 8:00 pm at 570 Laurel Ave #1 (Kat’s house). We will be working on the results of the May 31st Project ID kickoff, among other data projects. Please join us, and RSVP to secretary@sd64dfl.org.

UPDATE: The Data Management Working Group members who were present at the Project ID kickoff today all expressed heavy interest in attending Tuesday’s 7 pm Barak Obama rally at the Xcel Center.  Since this means turnout at Tuesday’s Data Management meeting would be very low, I am therefore canceling it. Our next meeting will most likely be Tuesday the 10th at 8 pm, at 570 Laurel Ave #1.  Please let me know if you have a problem with this time- it isn’t set in stone yet!

Communications Committee, Saturday 5/24

We need to get the communications committee of the SD64 DFL rolling. If you are interested in helping out, please join us for our first meeting on Saturday. Eric Celeste is calling this first meeting together to see if we can get some ideas on the table and begin to plan out communications activities. For one thing, we have a revised SD64 website and he can show you all how to edit it and make sure you have accounts and passwords. For another, we have produced two one-page newsletters and we should critique the format and develop some article ideas. Your ideas are welcome!

Please join Eric this Saturday (5/24) afternoon at his house, 1993 Lincoln Avenue, for this initial communications group meeting. There will be some nibbles and lemonade. The meeting will last no more than 90 minutes. Please RSVP to ac@sd64dfl.org so he has an idea who to expect. Also let Eric know if you actually are interested in further communications committee participation whether or not the Saturday 3pm meeting works for you.

Cristina Diaz a Rising Star

Kudos to SD 64’s Cristina Diaz who is receiving a DFL Rising Star award this year from the DFL Women’s Hall of Fame. The DFL Women’s Hall of Fame is the only event of its kind to celebrate and honor remarkable and inspirational DFL women from around the state. The 2008 Women’s Hall of Fame luncheon will be held at noon on Saturday, May 31st at the Saint Paul Hotel.

Meet the Senate District, Saturday 5/31

SD64 will be hosting a number of big events on Saturday, May 31st, so please hold that date! That morning we will be doing another round of precinct training (similar to the 5/7 session) for precinct chairs, associate chairs, and anyone else who is interested. After the precinct training we will be doing a “door knock” around the district and making phone calls. Details will be here on the website soon, but for now please plan to spend a chunk of that Saturday with your SD64 DFL friends and neighbors!

Data Management Working Group, Tuesday 5/20

Kat Sherman writes:

The first meeting for the SD 64 Data Management working group will be Tuesday, May 20th at 8 pm, at the DFL Coordinated Campaign offices at:

Wright Building
2233 University Ave., Suite 342
Saint Paul, MN 55114.

The building is a few blocks west of University and Vandalia.

At the meeting, we’ll talk about how the working group will work, what we need to do to get ready for Project ID, and what people would like to see happen with the group moving forward. We will also, inevitably, be discussing the VAN database and how we’ll utilize it.

If you’re interested in being a part of the Data Management working group, please let me know, or show up at our meeting. We’ve got a lot of work to do this summer supporting Project ID and our other Senate District initiatives. We’d love to have anyone join us who has an interest in working with entering the data from our events, pulling and managing the lists, and basically figuring out how we’re going to know who we have to contact and who we have contacted. If you’ve never done data management before, that’s all right- we’d love to teach you.

Great year for Democrats

A message from Elizabeth:

We are looking forward to a great year for Democrats. We want to take back the White House and put a DFLer in Paul Wellstone’s former Senate Seat. We want to re-elect Reps. Paymar and Murphy and achieve a veto-proof majority in the Minnesota House. And, we’d love to have you help us.

There are many ways to get involved. If you just like to do periodic events, join us for a door knock or phone bank, like the event we’ll be holding on May 31. Attend or host a neighborhood or Senate District party. Sign up to be a neighborhood leader and reach out to other Democrats on your block. If you’d like to get more deeply involved, let us know and we can add you to a committee or a precinct leadership team.

Contact chair@sd64dfl.org to reach Elizabeth!
