SD64 concluded its biannual district convention on March 7th. Our volunteers did a magnificent job of making Central High School an inviting venue for this event. Thank you to everyone on all our convention committees who did so much work to pull this off. Bravo!
Some of the results from our convention on March 7th. 557 delegates attended the caucus and sent 26 delegates on to the state convention. For every delegate to the state convention we sent two to the county convention. Here’s how our state delegates were allocated.

The convention had 69 (!) subcaucuses, so this is a simplified depiction of the results. Be gentle! Everyone had great patience with the subcaucusing process.
If you have any feedback you’d like to share about the convention, please add your comments to this post. Just click the headline and look at the bottom of the page. Thanks!

Please note, even if you have helped convene your precinct caucus in the past, the registration process has been revised and we really need to share the new process with you, so please join us.

The Republican strategy for this year’s city election is now clear. They have decided to focus state and city Republican money to defeat Vallay Moua Varro, the DFL and teacher endorsed candidate in the special election for school board.
The state party has funded a mailer that goes after Vallay. Instead of fielding a qualified candidate, the Republicans have opted to run a negative campaign.
Vallay Varro needs to respond to their attacks and needs your help to do it.
You can help in three ways.
- Please contribute to Vallay’s campaign. We need to raise enough money to reach voters and remind them that Vallay is the most qualified candidate.
- Volunteer this coming weekend for our final lit drop.
Saturday and Sunday, October 24th & 25th
9am to 1pm
1028 Oak Bluff Circle, Saint Paul (Vallay’s house)
Contact info@vallayvarro.com for more information
- Vote for Vallay Moua Varro on Tuesday November 3rd and bring your friends.
We need Vallay Varro on the school Board. She will bring to the board a wealth of real world experience in education.
We can’t let the Republican attack machine defeat this great candidate for School Board. Our kids and our future can’t afford it.

Join SD64 as we continue Project ID. Get together with friends, eat pizza, and make a few phone calls. Whether you’re a complete newcomer to phone banking, or an old hand, this will be a great event. We’re calling people to give them information about a non-partisan event, so people are verry friendly. See you there!
Our next Project ID phonebank will be on Tuesday, June 9th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the SEIU State Council office (2233 University Avenue). Please RSVP to Rick Varco treasurer@sd64dfl.org if you can help out at the phonebank.

Rick Varco is planning a “reach out to our neighbors” phone bank for SD64 DFL on Monday, March 23, from 5:30-8:30pm. The calls will be super-easy (not asking for money, not asking for support, just sharing some upcoming community opportunities and asking for party affiliation), the goal is to make a dent in the remaining unidentified voters in SD64. We will gather at the SIEU State Council Call Center (no dialing, no busy numbers, no unanswered ringing) on the 4th floor of 2233 University Ave. Please RSVP to info@sd64dfl.org to let us know you’ll be there.
