All are welcome to join us for the data entry party on Sunday 12 February 2012, 1-5pm, at the SEIU Healthcare offices. We will be spending Sunday afternoon entering data from caucus participants. Please RSVP to info@sd64dfl.org so we can arrange to have credentials in VoteBuilder (the VAN) for your use. Please let us know if you will be bringing your own wifi-enabled laptop.

SEIU Healthcare Minnesota is at 345 Randolph Ave. Suite 100. Go to the intersection of Shepard Road and Randolph Ave. Follow Randolph off Shepard down towards the river. After passing the old power plant, turn left onto James Ave and then immediately turn right into the parking lot behind the sign that includes SEIU Healthcare Minnesota. Drive to the end of the parking lot for SEIU Healthcare Minnesota.

Pre-Convention Committees, 2/11

Our pre-convention committees will all meet for the first time on Saturday, 11 February 2012, 9:30am, at Macalester College, Old Main (in the heart of the campus), downstairs in rooms 001, 002, 003, 009, 010, and 011.

If your precinct caucus elected you a member or alternate on any of our committees, please come to this initial meeting. More information about these committees can be found on our convention page.

SD64 DFL Convention, 3/25

Our SD64 DFL Convention will be held on Sunday, 25 March 2012, 12:30pm, at Central High School. If you were elected a delegate or alternate to the convention by your precinct caucus, we hope you will join us.

New Caucus Convener Training Opportunity, 2/4

If you are signed up to convene an SD64 DFL caucus, please make sure you attend our precinct caucus convenor training session. There is only one left in the Activity Room at the Groveland Rec Center on Saint Clair Avenue, Saturday 2/4 at 10am.

State of the Union watch party, 1/24

The Obama SD 64 team will be hosting a State of the Union watch party on Tuesday the 24th starting at 7 pm. The watch party will take place in the community room of the Plaza Apartments located at 2353 Youngman Ave. Hope you can stop by. Mayor Coleman is planning to join us. Please RSVP.

Precinct Caucus After-Party Details

Caucus night is always exhausting for all of us active in SD64 DFL. We really appreciate your help and would love to get together with you after the job is done on caucus night. Join us in the Ashland room at Sweeney’s for our post caucus party! We will probably begin to gather after 8:30pm on 7 February. See you there!

For those who would prefer a non-alcoholic alternative, SD65 DFL has graciously shared an invitation to their post party at Jerabek’s New Bohemian, 63 W. Winfred, on the West Side of St. Paul. Stop by anytime after 8pm on caucus night.

Precinct Caucus Convenor Training Scheduled

Great convenors are critical to a smoothly running precinct caucus. If you are signed up to convene an SD64 DFL caucus, please make sure you attend one of our precinct caucus convenor training sessions. These will both be held in the Activity Room at the Hillcrest Rec Center on Ford Parkway. Please join us either Monday 1/23 at 7pm or Saturday 1/28 at 10am. Thanks for stepping up for this important job.

SD64 DFL adopts resolution against the constitutional amendment to ban marriage for same-sex couples

At our Central Committee meeting on 1/11, SD64 DFL adopted a resolution that states:

We oppose the amendment to the Minnesota Constitution banning marriage for same-sex couples.

This resolution also allows Minnesotans United for All Families to use SD64 DFL’s name in opposition to the amendment. The Central Committee approved the resolution by a unanimous voice vote.

Dick Cohen’s Mother

Unfortunately, we received word yesterday about the passing of Sen. Dick Cohen’s mother Bobbie. Her funeral is this Wednesday, 11 January 2012 at 11:30am at Mount Zion at 1300 Summit Ave. Shiva is Wed 1-11 & Thursday 1-12, beginning at 7pm at Sholom Home East at 740 Kay Ave, St Paul. We have not yet heard where memorials may be preferred, but will pass along information as it becomes available. All our thoughts are with Sen. Cohen and his family at this time.

Central High School

275 N. Lexington Ave.

64A precincts 1-1, 1-2, 1-7, 1-13, 2-1, 2-2, 2-4, 3-13, 3-14, 4-4, 4-5, 4-6, 4-9, and 4-10.

Macalester College

1600 Grand Ave. in the John B. Davis lecture hall in the basement of the Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center.

64A precinct 3-7.

Highland Park Junior High

975 S. Snelling Ave.

64B precincts 2-17, 3-3, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6, 3-9, 3-10, 3-11, 3-15, and 3-16.

Ramsey Junior High School

1700 Summit Ave.

64B precincts 3-1, 3-2, 3-8, and 4-7.
