The Pioneer Press and MinnPost both covered the “statement of admonition” Minnesota DFL Chair Ken Martin sent to local DFLers Michael Lewis and Darren Tolbert regarding the Ward 3 convention last year.
In the Pioneer Press, Fredereick Melo writes a story “In St. Paul’s Ward 3, endorsing process criticized.”
Minnesota DFL Chairman Ken Martin recently issued a formal “statement of admonition” to St. Paul DFL leaders Michael Lewis and Darren Tolbert. It says the endorsing convention was marred by poor advance notice, bad record keeping and minutes, and confusion over who was allowed onto the floor during restricted times. It also notes “other disorder that occurred at the convention.”
Brian Lambert mostly quotes Melo in his MinnPost column.
It is important to note that the Ward 3 convention is not governed by SD64 DFL, in fact our conventions have been noted for their clear process and effective governance. However, Ward 3 is in the heart of SD64, so we know that many of you will have a great deal of interest in this issue. For now, our focus is on redistricting and making sure the new SD64 gets off to a great start at its convention on March 25.
