Welcome to Senate District 64! Campaign buttons.

Please help us as we gear up for the 2008 election season. If your interested in getting involved in these activities, please contact the people below or send a note to Liz at chair@sd64dfl.org with information on what you’re interested in doing.

Here’s some of what we’re doing this year and areas where we could use your help:

Data Entry Help Needed

We had 10,000 + people show up on precinct caucus night. We need help updating our records to reflect this attendance. If you have access to the internet (or are willing to head to DFL Headquarters to use their computers), please contact our Secretary Kat Sherman at secretary@sd64dfl.org or (651) 647-1519.

Project ID

There are close to 50,000 registered voters in Senate District, but only about 24,000 have been “party identified”. We want to close that gap. The more information we have about our senate district (and our precincts) the better organized we can be we hope to accomplish this through “Project ID.” Andy Pieper, an SD64 DFL director, will be leading this effort and he’ll talk more about it in training. We hope that you will play a role in this – you can do it by foot or by phone – covering just your block, helping with your precinct, or more!

Communications Committee

This group will work on our electronic and print communications. Projects will include updating and maintaining our website, deciding how/whether to create a newsletter or other regular updates, and more. See our communications pages.

Fun(d)raising committee

This group will plan and execute our fundraising plan, including fun events that will bring people together. See our fundraising pages.

Affirmative Action Committee

This committee will plan and execute events aimed at bringing new people into the electoral and political process. See our affirmative action pages.

Data Management Working Group

This group will help us determine how to best manage and leverage our data within the SD. See our data pages.

Block Captains

To help our precinct leaders and to get people more connected with their neighbors, we also are trying to recruit “block captains.” These block captains help out precinct leadership by connecting in with the people on their block – making sure it’s been ID’d and then following up with the DFLers periodically. We hope that we can get many of our executive committee and central committee signed up to play this role. We also encourage you to sign up people in your neighborhood who might be interested as well.

Adopt-a-suburb

We’ll spend time organizing within our Senate District to make sure that we get out the vote for Democratic candidates all the way up the ticket. Because we are considered a highly democratic district, we “adopted” a candidate in a suburban race in 2004 and 2006. When we “adopt” a candidate, we pledge to send a number of volunteers out to that District to help with door knocks and lit drops several times during the election season. This effort has been very successful and we hope to do it again this year!

Field Events

If you can’t commit to anything right now, but would like to help out with future door knocks, lit drops, phone banks, etc., please let us know that as well.
